Live: Baby Lasagna in Dublin, 2025
In April, I continued on the Eurovision wave and went to the Baby Lasagna concert in Dublin. And I have to say, it was a very pleasant surprise, but more on that in the article.
Baby Lasagna is the stage name of Croatian artist Marko Purišić. This project began in late 2023, when he released his first single IG Boy. In 2024, he represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Rim Tim Tagi Dim, where he placed second overall. At one point, he was even a candidate for the winner, but the trophy was taken away by the Swiss Nemo.
After a successful Eurovision, the singer went into the studio and released his debut album DMNS & Mosquitoes at the beginning of February this year. Of course, he also planned a tour of Europe. A friend of mine was immediately excited when she saw that he would be in Dublin, and even though I only knew the Eurovision hit, we bought tickets.
I have to say that the concert took place on April 14th, two days after Orla and it wasn’t exactly a great idea. I was still excited about Orla’s concert and wasn’t in the mood for another concert/music. I was afraid that I wouldn’t enjoy it and wouldn’t appreciate Baby Lasagna enough. On the way to the concert, I finally listened to the album properly and found that I liked most of the songs. They are also quite rock, so they go hand in hand with Orla. Thank God haha
The concert took place at The Academy, in the main room and the opening act was a Slovenian singer (I forgot her name oops), who I also enjoyed. She will be trying to represent Slovenia at Eurovision, so maybe we’ll see her sometime in the future 🙂
As for Baby Lasagna, I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. The singer and his band brought amazing energy with them, Marko was always dancing and jumping and vocally he wasn’t afraid of it. The setlist consisted of songs from the album, but he also did three covers – Country Roads, a song from Shrek and the theme song to Friends.
What I also liked was that he was quite relatable – he joked that he was too old for fast songs and therefore needed to slow down between them and at the end, when they played the last song, he said goodbye to us, saying that we shouldn’t chant anymore, because they really don’t have any more songs to play haha When he introduced the covers, he introduced them with the idea that people who came for the ESC song would at least know these 3 songs and wouldn’t be completely bored. Overall, the singer seemed very modest, which is also evidenced by the opening photo of the article.
I went to the concert thinking that at worst I would somehow make it to the end, when Rim Tim Tagi Dim would play. But I did leave thinking that I would go again right away? It was really a long time since I went to a concert without expectations and left completely excited. Definitely listen to his album and if he happens to be playing somewhere near you in the future, give him a chance. He is incredible live.
