Live: Nemo at Dublin 2025

Last month I went to see Switzerland’s Eurovision 2024 winner, Nemo. Before I start, I just want to point out that I disagree with the EBU and what they do or rather don’t do, and this article has nothing to do with Eurovision. I’m just talking about my concert experience.

I also want to point out that Nemo is non-binary and use they/them pronouns 🙂

So Nemo won for Switzerland in May 2024 with the song The Code. For me, it was completely deserved and especially after this concert. It was originally supposed to take place in March, but Nemo didn’t have the material ready and they moved the tour to the fall. Which I was ultimately happy about, because there was a lot going on in March and this was ultimately my last concert of the year and I couldn’t have ended it better!

The concert took place on November 16th at The Academy in Dublin. I was originally supposed to go with my friends, but none of them could make it. I ended up writing to a friend who I thought was also going to the concert and I was right. Coincidentally, we met the year before, at the same venue, when we went to Aiko, haha See you next year, C.!

Nemo had an opening act, I can’t find her name anywhere now, but the songs were great pop and we had a lot of fun. Another thing I would like to point out is the pre-concert playlist – lots of Eurovision songs and songs by Eurovision artists, including Pedro the Raccoon trend song and two Chappell Roan songs – simply the best playlist!

What was Nemo like?

A bit traditional at this point, but I hadn’t listened to Nemo’s album Arthouse at all before the concert day and I only really made time for it on the train to Dublin. And I don’t know what it was, if the nicely changing autumn weather helped, but I fell in love with it right away. It’s a great pop album, I immediately liked a few songs and was looking forward to hearing them live that evening. This time I didn’t have a camera with me, because The Academy usually has terrible lighting and I decided to just enjoy the concert (the fact that I probably recorded the entire setlist is secondary…). On top of that, they were looking into our bags quite brutally, with a big flashlight, so there’s no way I could get inside with the camera haha and I won’t lie, sometimes I wished I had my camera on me because the light was absolutely great at times but well

I decided to just go for the vibes and enjoy the concert, no matter what was playing and no matter where I was standing. In the end, I was about in the third row (thank God for that, because the room has a really low stage, which I had seen a year earlier at Alessandra) and oh my god, I was having so much fun that my Google Fit thought I had been cycling for an hour…

Nemo brought perfect energy, great vibes and those vocals! The whole club was so excited that Nemo was sometimes hard to hear singing, everyone was roaring. Nemo didn’t talk much, I expected a speech between songs, but instead they occasionally commented on the songs and tour traditions (each stop had a theme, according to which people could dress up and win something small). My greatest experience was when during The Code bridge, Nemo climbed onto the drum set and between singing and the operetta part they jumped down and started the operetta part, as if it was nothing difficult. You can see it in the video below!

As for the stage – it really had an art touch. In addition to musical instruments, there was an old lamp on one side of the stage and an old mailbox with ARTHOUSE written on the other. In addition, the concert started with a narrator who spoke during the concert. Just to set the atmosphere.

I’m so glad I went in the end, because Nemo is really worth it. With every song and performance, they showed why they deserved that trophy a year ago. And where else would I hear a song from a frog’s perspective!?
