Gigs and Cons

Live: Jonas Brothers in Dublin 2024

In September, I had another concert experience when the Jonas Brothers came to play at the 3Arena in Dublin. Of course, my camera could not be missing.

I was hoping to see the band live before Covid, but unfortunately their Dublin concert sold out. When they announced the stops for The Tour last summer and Dublin was among them, I just had to go. I finally got the tickets, about 2 weeks after buying the tickets for the Eras tour, when I declared that I would not buy any more tickets…

The concert was originally supposed to be in June, but the band moved the tour to autumn at the last minute. I’m probably the only one who was happy about it, because the day after the June date we flew to the Czech Republic and I was dying. Originally, I was supposed to go with my friend J., but she ended up going to another concert (in June), now in September it didn’t suit her, and in the end my friend M. went with me, which was nice for two reasons. After they moved the dates, people got mad (which I can understand) and a lot of them threw their tickets back on sale, so I wouldn’t sell the extra ticket. And then M. also listens to them, so it wasn’t just anyone who went with me and we both enjoyed it a lot.

The concert took place in 3Arena and we didn’t make it to the support bands due to time constraints. We had seating tickets and got to the arena about 30 minutes before the start. But the Jonas Brothers came on stage only at 45 and not half past one, 15 minutes late.

This tour copied the Eras tour, aka a cross-section of discography, only that instead of 3 and a half hours, the concert lasted two hours. A lot of older songs were mash-uped together. Thus throughout the night we reached all five albums plus a solo from Nick, Jealous and Cake by the Ocean from Joe of DNCE.

As for the stage, they had a catwalk from the classic cube and from it two wings and stairs in the middle straight to the fans in the first row of the stands. This was mainly used by Joe, who visited the fans several times during the concert. What I really liked and changed this concert from ordinary to a real experience was the fact that, in addition to ordinary instruments, the Jonas Brothers had a mini-orchestra with them on stage. It was hard to tell, because mostly you could heart their guitars, at least in our section, but as they say, it’s the thought that counts.

It was a great experience and I’m very happy that I went, heard my favorite songs live and can cross the Jonas Brothers off my bucket list.
